Rooted in Faith. Rich in Story.

A Lifelong Love for Storytelling

Jenny Powell can’t remember a time when books weren’t part of her world. From sitting on her parents’ laps to tagging along to the library at age four, stories were her first language. She was the kid who wanted to check out books beyond her reading level and the teenager who dreamed of becoming a journalist. Inspired by the likes of Woodward and Bernstein during the Watergate era, she pursued a future in investigative journalism with a determination that shaped her earliest plans.

But God had other ideas.

When the Story Changed

Jenny started college with a pre-journalism and classics major, laser-focused on transferring to the University of Missouri’s renowned journalism school. But midway through her first year, she felt a divine prompting that she was not walking the path God had for her.

So she made the courageous choice to pause.

Marriage and motherhood came next. And then, in her thirties — when many are settling into careers — Jenny felt a new, unmistakable calling: to become a physician. It was a dream that once seemed unimaginable. Yet, with faith and fierce resolve, she returned to school, earned her bachelor’s degree at 34, graduated from medical school at 38, and completed her residency three years later.

Today, she’s been practicing family medicine for over 20 years.

From Healing to Storytelling

The desire to write never went away. And now, Jenny is once again answering God’s call — this time to write fiction that inspires, challenges, and encourages others in their faith.

Her stories are rich in biblical themes, layered with history, and anchored in truth. She writes for those who crave stories with eternal significance — the kind of stories that stay with you long after the last page.

Her debut novel, But For These Chains, reimagines the journey of Saul of Tarsus before he became the Apostle Paul. It’s a story of transformation, courage, and the freedom found in Christ alone.
